Back to learning Polish - 7 words to study this week.

Just got back from Poland. Went to Warsaw then Krakow for 3 nights. Survival polish was all I had. Got to practice a little and people there were patient with my efforts. I got real good at saying "gin dobry pan/pani". and "Sh-pra-sham Pan/Pani, Chi pan/pani moovi po angelsku?" A lot of times I just pointed to the word such as "ostatni" in my guidebook.

I need to know more words so have decided to weekly post words along with words in my other target languages in relevant areas of the house. I just looked them up on google translate, so may not be totally correct as far as nuances in the language go. I figure reading the children's books I brought back from poland will help me fine tune the language

lodówka = refridgerator
zimno = cold (zima in slovak)
umywalka = sink
woda = water (voda in slovak)
gotować = to cook
gorący = hot
kurchenka - stove

Back to studying Polish

Well I just finished listening to Michael Thomas foundation course. Now I am listening to Pimsleur Polish. I also have been studying phrase books and http://mowicpopolsku.com/ . I'd like to get back to writing my book but I may change direction on what I do. Maybe sound memory for basic phrases? Also read Benny the irish polygot and scott young on learning french. Very interesting.
